Architecture...
is a passion that developed steadily while working as a finish carpenter for the last 15 years. Beautifying client’s homes with rich molding and trim enhancements has been a rewarding and fullfilling aspect of my life.
Early on working with my Dad, I discovered an eye for details, but at that time it was mostly based on what we had installed before, or what the local molding stores had on display. Details though nice, were not always architecturally correct.
Just few years ago, I learned that there is a lot more to this trade than just...
..." Nailing up Moldings!"
My entire outlook of what it takes to be a great finish carpenter changed. Basic understanding of architectural styling, classical orders, historic design, properly executed details, are just a few of the skills that really impressed me.
As a constant student to the craft, I have learned that the best way to progress, is to get immersed in it. Touring historic homes & neighborhoods, reading lots of books, participating on internet forums, writing for several trade magazines, and always being on the hunt for better installation techniques, are just a few ways that have influenced my skillset.
"My design service falls in a small niche that is somewhere between an Architect and an Interior Designer"
While many Interior Designers are fluent in color, furniture, and window coverings, many are not fluent in architectural design. Specifically how moldings will relate for a space.
Most Architects are versed in architectural details, but many focus more time on engineering the bones of the house, and over all design. Often times leaving out the finish details due to budget priorities.
This is where I come in as a Designer, but I can also Build it too!
